Man, 18, arraigned over house breaking, stealing

An 18-year-old man, Abdulkareem Saibu, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, magistrate court for alleged house breaking and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Olubu Apata, briefed the court yesterday that Saibu committed the offence on February 24, 2020 at about 2.30pm at Olorunda, Zone 5, Ado-Ekiti.
Apata alleged that the defendant jumped over the fence of one Jemisaye Ojo, whose house he broke into.
The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant stole one stabilizer valued at N22,000, two generator blocks valued at N18,000 and two alternators valued at N30,000, belonging to the complainant.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
Saibu pleaded not guilty and his counsel, Mr Gboyega Abiola, urged the court to grant him bail, with a promise he would not jump it.
The magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N 50,000, with one surety in like sum, and adjourned the case till March 23, 2020 for hearing.
