The Police in Ogun have arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a teenager to death over a missing phone at a drinking joint on Christmas day.
It was gathered that trouble started when the deceased, Farooq Olusegun, 18, raised an alarm over his missing phone at the sitting in Ope-Ilu area of Agbado Ifo.
“Argument ensued as the suspect, Israel Oluranti, got infuriated over the allegation, consequent upon which he took one of the beer bottles, broke it and stabbed Farooq on the chest with it," the command spokesman, Oyeyemi, stated.
He added that the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died on the way.
“The father of the victim, Kolawole Abiola, lodged the complaint at Agbado Divisional Headquarters and the Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) CSP Omonijo Sunday, detailed police detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested,” he added.
He said the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State CID for investigation.
