A 24-year-old man, Victor Olusuyi, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti chief magistrate court for alleged theft of a motorcycle.

Olusuyi is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on stealing.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, informed the court on Tuesday that the defendant committed the offence on November 8,

2019 at the New Iyin Road police station, Ado-Ekiti.

Akinwale alleged that Olusuyi, without lawful excuse, entered the police station premises and stole a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, worth N150,000.

“The defendant’s motorcycle was seized by members of the Federal Road Safety Corps and kept in police custody. But the accused person went to the police station with another spare key to take his motorcycle without excuse by the police,” he noted.

Akinwale asked the court for adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.

Olusuyi pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His counsel, Mr Taiwo Ogunmoroti, urged the court to grant him bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The chief magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.

Adegboye adjourned the case till December 12, 2019 for further hearing.
