A 24-year-old man, simply identified as Tochukwu, has reportedly stabbed his 23-year-old neighbour, Solomon, to death over a cell phone.
Fight was said to have ensued between the two when the victim tried to retrieve his phone allegedly stolen by Tochukwu.
Sources said late Solomon had used another handset to contact his missing handset, which rang where Tochukwu allegedly hid it within the compound.
It was gathered that their parents were not at home when the incident happened.
Witnesses said while the deceased was insisting that Tochukwu handed his phone back to him, the latter drew a kitchen knife from his pocket and stabbed him with it on the chest.
One of the witnesses who spoke to Daily Trust said, “Solo summoned courage and pursued Tochukwu despite blood dripping from his chest before he ran out of strength and slumped.
“Realizing that Solo was dead, Tochukwu, before fleeing the scene, threw the knife into a nearby gutter.
“However, angry youths within Sani Giwa road, Sabon Gari, Kano, where the incident occurred, chased and caught him and handed him over to the police.”
He added that moments after the incident, police arrived the scene and conveyed the corpse to an undisclosed hospital.
The spokesman of the police in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, could not be reached for comment as calls and text messages to his line were not answered as at the time of filing this story.
