A 25-year-old resident of Sheka quarters in Kumbotso local government
area of Kano state has been arraigned before a Magistrate court
sitting in Gyadi-gyadi quarters for assaulting a friend.

Umar Muhammad was reported to the police by the victim, Magaji
Abdurrahman also a resident of the same address that the accused had
beaten him up as a result of which he inflicted injury in his mouth.

The Police First Information Report (FIR) reads in part: “You Umar
Muhammad had beaten Magaji Abdurrahman and inflicted serious injury in his mouth.”

The accused person pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of causing
grievous hurt, an offence contrary to section 265 of the Penal Code
Law.

The Presiding Judge, Magistrate Fatihu Yassar ordered for the remand
of the accused person in prison and adjourned the case to February 7,
2017 for summary trial.
