A 25-yr-old man has reportedly killed his step-grandfather after seeing him "appearing to have sex" with his mother.

Michael McDonald who claim to have “lost control" when he saw his mother Terri Hurry, 42, having sex with her 78-year-old father-in-law, Brian Hurry has been jailed for life.

Hurry who died from head injuries after being repeatedly hit with the metal bar of a dumbbell at his home in Great Baddow, was lured into a bathroom where the act happened.

Det Ch Insp Martin Pasmore, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: "Brian Hurry was an innocent victim, who was subjected to a brutal attack by a trusted family member.

“The defendants have not shown any remorse and will now have ample time to reflect on their actions. This has been an extremely traumatic investigation for Mr Hurry’s family, who has lost a dearly loved father in the most appalling way. 

"My thoughts remain very much with them and while nothing will bring him back, now the court proceedings are over, I hope they can somehow start to rebuild their lives.”

McDonald is to serve a minimum of 17 years in prison after being convicted of the murder in June last year. The court ruled.

He had previously admitted manslaughter, but denied murder and was convicted after a five-week trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Earlier on, McDonald’s mother was cleared of murder but later found guilty of perverting the course of justice by the Jury. She was jailed for three-and-a-half years.

Also, McDonald’s 21-year-old girlfriend Anna Blackwell previously admitted a charge which ‘perverted the course of justice’.

She had given a false alibi, claiming her boyfriend was with her at the time of the murder. Blackwell was given an 18-month jail term, suspended for two years, and a community order for 100 hours. She was also ordered to pay £500 court costs.
