A 26 year-old man, simply identified as Sahabi, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a five year – old girl at Zuba, Gwagwalada Area Council.

A resident of the area, Haruna Jibrin, said the incident happened on Monday afternoon when the accused allegedly lured the girl into his room and defiled her.

He said the girl’s mother raised the alarm when her daughter returned from school but did not come home. 

“I come out of the bathroom when I saw the man taking the little girl in to his room. We are neighbours and  when the mother came and asked me if I have seen her daughter, I told her that I saw Sahabi taking her inside the room,” he said.

City News gathered that when the mother discovered her daughter inside the accused’s room naked, raised alarm, which attracted the attention of some other neighbours who came and arrested and handed him over to the police.

When contacted, the Zuba Divisional Police Officer (DPO) confirmed the incident, saying the accused was still in detention at the police station.

“We are waiting for the outcome of medical report from Suleja General Hospital, before we will now transfer him to the command for the further action,” he said.
