An Ekiti State chief magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a 28-year-old man, Babatunde Olorunsola Ayomide, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court on Wednesday that Ayomide committed the offence on June 22, 2020 in Ado-Ekiti.

Magistrate Adefunke Anoma, who frowned at the increasing rate of rape cases in the society, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Service, Ado-Ekiti, pending legal advice from the Ekiti State Director of Public Prosecution and adjourned the case till August 11, 2020 for mention.
