Man, 28, arrested for attacking Alaba International traders

Detectives attached to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad  (FSARS ) have arrested a member of a five-man armed robbery gang that attack some Alaba International traders.

The 28 year old suspect, Chima Ejikeme, and his gang members, according to the Police had trailed their victims who were on their way back from a business trip to Cotonou, Benin Republic to Mowo area of Badagry.

The Police said that the suspects opened fire at the traders as soon as they sighted them at Mowo as result of which they sustained varying degree of injuries.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who confirmed the incident, said that police got information the some dare devil armed robbers were sighted robbing traders unchallenged at Alaba International Market.

He said that on receipt of the information, FSARS operatives stationed at Mowo-Badagry, swiftly mobilized to the scene and that on sighting the operatives, the robbers fled.

He said one of them, named Chima Ejikeme, aged 28 years, was arrested.

Edgal said that the police recovered a cut to size locally made gun with three live cartridges were recovered from the suspect.

“During interrogation, he confessed to be a member of a five-man-armed robbery gang. He also confessed to belong to VIKINGS a.k.a. Arobaga which terrorizing Ojo and its environs.

“Investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting other members of the gang who are still at large for prosecution” he said.
