Man, 28, charged with alleged assault, stealing

A  28-year-old man, Kehinde Oni, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti chief magistrate court for alleged assault and stealing.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo, briefed the court that Oni and others at large committed the offence on May 8, 2020 at about 12pm in Emure-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Leranmo alleged that the defendant assaulted Morenike Bajulaye and Nife Folaju.

Oni was also said to have stolen the sum of

N40,000 and one itel phone valued at N18,000, property of Bajulaye.

The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.

Oni pleaded not guilty to the charges. Counsel to the defendant, Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, granted Oni bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till June 3, 2020 for hearing.
