29-year-old man, Taiwo Ayadi, on Thursday, appeared before an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly attacking a woman with a cutlass and injuring her.

The accused, who is standing trial on a three-count charge of felony, unlawful assault and unlawful damage, allegedly committed the offences on January 27 at 12.30pm at a No. 24, Ester Kawe Street, Okitipupa.

A fracas broke out between the accused and the complainant, Blessing Amaka, and in the process, he brought out a cutlass to attack her, the Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court.

He said the woman suffered various degrees of injury following the attack.

“The accused also damaged a Mitsubishi TV and a DVD player valued at N25, 000, property of the complainant,’’ Orogbemi said.

The offences contravene Sections 351, 355 and 451 of the Criminal Code Ondo State 2006.
