A 30-year-old man, Kehinde Oke, alias Egere, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, chief magistrate court for alleged armed robbery and murder.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, informed the court yesterday that Oke robbed and subsequently murdered a 92-year-old man, Ayeni Ayorinde, in Emure-Ekiti on January 1, 2020.

The charge sheet read that the police arrested the defendant in Emure-Ekiti on May 31, 2020 and found exhibits, including dangerous weapons on him. He was said to have made a confessional statement to the police.

Leramo asked the court to adjourn the case to allow him duplicate the case file to be sent to the Ondo State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice. The magistrate, Mallam Abdulhamid Lawal, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Federal Correctional Centre, Ado-Ekiti,  and adjourned the case till 30 July, 2020 for mention.
