Man, 31, charged for stealing laptop in Ekiti

Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a 31-year-old man, Segun Taiwo, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over an alleged stealing.

Police prosecutor, Inspector  Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the defendant and one other at large, committed the offence on May 18 at about 10:00 a.m at Basiri Area in Ado-Ekiti.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant and one other at large stole one laptop valued at N80,000, belonging to one Abdulrahaman Rashidat.

Inspector Bamikole said that the offence contravene Section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble   his witnesses.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Akinbobola Akingbade, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr.  Saka Afunso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in the like sum and adjourned the case till June 20, for hearing.
