A 35-year-old man was yesterday docked before a Barnawa Customary Court, Kaduna, over alleged beating of his neighbour’s wife.
Gabriel Elijah, a resident of Barnawa Complex Area of Kaduna, is standing trial on a charge of assault.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 27, 2018 at his residence.
Leo said Amaka Chinoso of the same address with the defendant reported the matter at Barnawa Police Station, Kaduna, on the same date.
According to him, the defendant and the complainant had a misunderstanding which led to the former beating her to a coma.
The prosecutor said the complainant was saved by neighbours who were at home, while the case was reported to the police and the defendant was arrested.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. The judge, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum. He adjourned the case until Jan.15 for further hearing. (NAN)
