A 35-year-old man, Adedero Bamidele, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over rape. A 35-year-old man, Adedero Bamidele, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over rape.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Monica Ikebuilo, informed the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 8, 2020 at Emure-Ekiti.
Ikebuilo alleged that the defendant raped a 17-year-old girl.
According to her, the defendant raped her and shaved her pubic hair.
Ikebuilo said the offence contravened Section 2(2) of Ekiti State Gender Based Violence Prohibition Law, 2019.
The police prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable her duplicate the case file to the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for issuance of legal advice.
The plea of the defendant was not taken in court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abdulhamid Lawal, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional facility, pending issuance of legal advice from DPP.
The court later adjourned the case until March 31st, 2020 for mention.
