Man, 35, dragged to court over phone theft

A 35-year-old motorcyclist, Jimi Afolabi, has been dragged before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ondo town, Ondo State, for allegedly stealing a phone and other items worth N509,000 belonging to Elizabeth Akinkuotu.

Police prosecutor, Charles Olagbayi, told the court that Afolabi conspired with some other persons to commit the offence on November 12, 2018 at about 1am at No. 29, Road 4, Ade Super, Ondo.

Olagbayi notified the court that he would be calling two prosecution witnesses to testify in the case.

He, therefore, applied for a date to enable him study the case file.

Afolabi pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

His counsel, Tomiwa Akinnugba, also applied for the bail of his client in the most liberal terms.

Magistrate Mrs Odenusi Fadeyi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties, and adjourned the case till December 9, 2019 for trial.
