Man, 36, arraigned for N1.2m fraud

The police have arraigned a 36-year-old man, Jude Sunday, before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court over alleged fraud.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adejare, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in June 2023 in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant obtained a credit sum of N1.2 million from Oluwadara Cooperative Multipurpose Society in Ado-Ekiti and refused to pay back.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 330(1)b of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail, and he would provide credible surety.

The magistrate, Dolapo Babalogbon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till October 11, for hearing.
