An Ogba magistrate Court sitting in Lagos yesterday sentenced a 38-year-old man, Seun Adewunmi to six months imprisonment for phone theft.
Prosecutor, Sergent Kenrich Nomayo, however, arraigned the accused on three count charges.
“That you Seun Adewunmi, male, and two others now at large in the month of January 2018 at Computer Village, Ikeja, in the Ikeja magisterial district did conspire among yourself to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 411 of the command laws of Lagos State Nigeria.
“That you Seun Adewunmi “M” and two others now at large on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did steal assorted type of phones valued at the sum of N475,000, property of one, Aniegboka Chike Charles, “M” and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria
That you Seun Adewunmi on the 7th day of August 2018 at about 4:00hrs at computer village in the Ikeja magisterial district did steal one Itel phone valued at the sum N37,500 property of one Aniegboka Chike Charles ” M” of No 5, Ola Ayeni Street computer village and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos state
The accused though denied the allegations of count 1& 2, he accepted to have steal an Itel phone valued at N N37,500.
The magistrate, Mrs T.O Ojo thereby sentenced the accused to six month imprisonment and thereby adjourned the case to September 18, 2018 for final trial on other charges.
