Other members of the gang were still on the run.
The accused person, residingin Yarmagaji village, Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, and the ten others on the run, robbed one Shuaibu Musa and attempted to kill him and his family members.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR) read at the court, the accused persons invaded the house of their victim around 11pm carrying weapons including sticks, cutlasses, clubs and locally made guns.
The accused was said to have been arrested by police detectives while in possession of some of the items stolen during the robbery operation.
The FIR stated that the suspect has committed an offence contrary to section 6 b, 1(2) (a) (b) of robbery and fire arms special provision act cap R11, LFN 2004 and section 229 of the penal code.
Though the magistrate court in which the accused was arraigned said it had no jurisdiction to try a robbery case, the presiding senior magistrate, Abdulkarim Umar, remanded Umar in prison custody, pending his formal arraignment before a high court.
