Man, 40, charged with theft of N2m cable in Ekiti

The police in Ekiti State have arraigned one Musa Haruna (40) before the Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over an allegation of stealing.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adejare, told the court that the suspect and others at large, on June 17, about 10am in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, conspired to commit the crime.

Inspector Adejare said the defendant and others at large, on the same date, time and place, within the magisterial district, stole an electric cable wire valued at N2,000,000, being the property of one Adebisi Olufemi. Counsel to the defendant, Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to admit his client to bail, saying he would provide credible surety.

Magistrate A. B. Oluwasanmi granted a bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, one of who must be a landed property owner, and adjourned the case till August 2 for hearing.
