An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, on Wednesday, sentence a 40- year old man, Sunday Peter, to one month imprisonment for stealing ten bundles of pumpkin leaves.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulateef Adebisi, sentenced Peter after he had pleaded guilty to a charge of staling.
Adebisi, however, gave the convict an option to pay N5, 000 as fine.
She ordered that the 10 bundles of vegetable be released to the owner.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Salewa Ahmed, had told the court that the convict committed the offence along with another person still at large on April 1 in Ajibode area of Ibadan.
Ahmed said the convict stole the bundles of vegetable belonging to the complainant, Mr Muideen Alawode.
“The accused entered the complainant’s farm at about 6: 30 a.m. and cut 10 bundles of pumpkin leaves valued at N20, 000,’’ he said.
Ahmed said the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
