Man, 43, ‘rapes’ 80-year-old woman in Nasarawa

Man, 43-year-old, Dan’asabe Eddo, a resident of Kundami Village of Garaku, Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has been apprehended by the police for allegedly raping an 80-year-old woman in the Garaku area of the state.

Confirming the incident to Daily Trust in Lafia, on Sunday, the spokesperson of Nigeria Police Force, Nasarawa State Command, ASP Ramhan Nansel, said the suspect was arrested on January 14, 2022.

“Consequent upon a complaint lodged at Garaku Division on 14/1/2022 at about 2230hrs, that one Dan’asabe Eddo `M` of Kubasha village, Kagarko LGA, Kaduna but a resident of Kundami Village, Garaku, Kokona LGA of Nasarawa State nocturnally went into the residence of an 80 years old woman who stays alone at same Village and forcefully had canal knowledge of her.

“Police operatives attached to Garaku Division immediately swung into action and got the suspect arrested,” he said.

According to him, following interrogation, the suspect confessed to have committed the crime, attributing it to the handiworks of the devil.

ASP Nansel disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adesina Soyemi, had directed that the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for proper investigation.

He, however, urged members of the public to pay special attention to the elderly and guard them against gerontophilia.
