Man, 44, arraigned over fraud

The Lagos State Police Command yesterday arraigned a 44-year-old man before an Ebute-Meta magistrate’s court for fraud.

 The police prosecutor, Sergeant Olatunde Kehinde, told the court that the suspect, Paul Johnson, 44, committed the offence sometime in August 2017 at No. 33, Akerele Street, Surulere, Lagos, by attempting to defraud Digital Communication Konsult Limited of the sum of N842,000 using a UBA Bank Plc account number 2095938910 to send an email to the said company.

  The prosecutor further told the court that some of the company’s staffs were involved in the act but all efforts to unravel who they are have proved abortive.

 The suspect, who pleaded not guilty to the charge against him, said, “I don’t know the said company neither do I know any of their staff. I only have N4000 in my account presently,” he added.

 The chief magistrate, Mrs Bola Folarin-Williams, granted the suspect bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties who she said must have evidence of blood relationship with the accused, gainful employment and tax payment.

 Folarin-Williams adjourned the case till October 17, 2017 for further hearing.

 In a similar development, the police yesterday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Prince Clarence, before an Ebute Meta magistrate court for allegedly stealing Lenovo and Nokia phone valued at N65,500 property, of one Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dike Fidelis.

 Clarence was arraigned before the magistrate, Mrs Bola Folarin-Williams, on a one-count charge offence bordering on theft.

 Police prosecutor, Sergeant Olatunde Kehinde, said the accused committed the offence this year at 10.45am in court 14 Magistrate court, Ebute -Meta, Lagos. 

 Prince Clarence pleaded not guilty to the charge

 Magistrate Folarin-Williams granted the accused bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety and adjourned the case until October 18, 2017 for mention.
