Man, 46 arrested with guns in Edo

The Police has arrested a graduate of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Wilson Iriajien for allegedly being in possession of two pump action and unlicensed double barrel guns. 

Iriajien, who claimed to be an international businessman, was arrested by police operatives attached to the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin. 

Speaking with journalists shortly after he was paraded by AIG Rasheed Olatunde Akintunde, the suspect said he inherited the double barrel gun from his late father who passed away in 2004.

He said he bought the two pump action guns for self-protection and nothing else.  

Iriajien who also confessed to be a member of the “Eiye Confraternity” during his student days at the Ambrose Alli University in 1992, said he had long renounced his memberships of the cult group.

Rasheed said investigation into the matter was ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.  

He said Items recovered from the suspect are: one double barrel gun with No. MBDT 5870, English pump action guns No. T587013- 0216, and No. P630882 respectively.

The AIG added that other items also recovered from the suspect include Apple laptop, three international passports and wrapped substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
