Man, 47, docked over N1.6m fraud

One Akin Faleye, 47, was on Thursday docked in an Iyaganku magistrates’ court, Ibadan for allegedly defrauding a man of N1,615,000.

Faleye, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and theft.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Adegboye, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on July 22, at noon, in the Alakia area of Ibadan.

Adegboye alleged that the defendant obtained the money from one Olukayode Adesugba with the pretence of procuring for him one pump action gun, having presented himself to him as an arms dealer.

He alleged that the defendant failed to procure the action gun for the claimant.

He said the offence contravened sections 419 and 390(9) of the criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case to December 8 for hearing. (NAN)
