An Ado-Ekiti chief magistrate court in Ekiti State has remanded in prison a 65-year-old man, Ezekiel Adewale, for allegedly raping a minor.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo, told the court that Adewale committed the offence on November 30, 2019 at Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State.
Leranmo alleged that the defendant defiled an 11-year-old girl, who was a neighbour, by luring her with money.
According to the Inspector, the girl informed the police that the defendant had actually defiled her on three different occasions.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand Adewale in prison pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution, Ekiti State.
Adewale’s plea was not taken in court. The chief magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, remanded him in correctional custody and adjourned the case till December 18, 2019 for mention.
