Man, 75, arrested after failed robbery

The FCT Police Command has arrested a 75-year-old man while allegedly trying to escape after a failed ‘one-chance’ robbery in the city.

The septuagenarian, Eze Nmwo, was reportedly arrested along with two others, Peter Isioma, 40 and Blessing Anaba Ayomide (F), 32, when an earlier victim identified them while they were attempting to rob another victim. The police said the suspects were arrested by the Lugbe Division of the command on August 7, following a tip off by another victim.

“The suspects were identified by one of their victims at a bus stop in Lubge while trying to lure another unsuspecting victim. The suspects operate in a red Volkswagen saloon car which has been recovered as exhibit. Investigation is ongoing,” the police said.

The command also announced the arrest of one Chika Anozie while he was reportedly trying to steal a car at the popular Wuse market in the city centre.

“On 14th August, 2018 at about 13:45hrs police operatives from Wuse Division on routine patrol in Wuse market arrested one Chika Anozie while trying to steal a maroon coloured Nissan Almera car from where it was parked. One master key, car battery and stereo were recovered from the suspect who is an ex-convict,” police said.
