A 75-year-old man, Muazu Adisa, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ikeja magistrate’s court, Lagos, for alleged attack  on some community leaders in Ajangbadi, Lagos State.

Adisa, who resides at Ajangbadi, is facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, possession of dangerous weapons and threat to life.

The prosecutor, Insp Peter Nwangwu, told the court that the accused committed the offences with some other persons still at large on July 11 at Ilemba Hausa Community Roundabout, Ajangbadi.

Nwangwu, said that the accused allegedly colluded with some thugs and some members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) to attack the leaders.

He said the accused conducted himself in a manner that was likely to breach the peace by invading the community.

“The accused, along with some hired thugs armed themselves with cutlasses, broken bottles and other dangerous weapons to attack Kareem Balogun, Ahmed Balogun, Tajudeen Balogun and Alhaji Memud Jinadu.

“The accused unlawfully displayed arms and dangerous weapons and threatened members of the community,’’ he said. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was subsequently granted bail by Chief Magistrate Y.O Aje-Afunwa in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 8. (NAN)
