A Kano State High Court sitting in Gwarzo has sentenced an 85-year-old man, Malam Isah, to 14 years’ imprisonment for raping a minor.

The court heard that the offence was committed on November 30, 2024, in Sauna village, Gabasawa Local Government Area of the state.

Delivering judgment, Justice Aisha Mahmoud said the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The judge subsequently sentenced the convict to 14 years’ imprisonment without an option of fine.

Reacting, the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Abdulkareem Kabir Maude (SAN), commended the prosecution team for diligent handling of the case.

He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to ensuring justice in all cases.
