An 18-year-old man, Kingsley Eyo Andem, has been abducted by hoodlums on the suspicion that he is dating the girlfriend of their leader, identified simply as Olismam.
Andem was reportedly abducted from his home and taken to the creeks in the Nyangassan axis, near Calabar, over the weekend.
The state’s police spokeswoman, Irene Ugbo, who confirmed this in a statement, said the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS) of the command responded to a distress call about the attack and abduction and mobilised to the crime scene.
The statement reads in part: “Upon sighting the police, the hoodlums fled into the creeks, abandoning their victim, Kingsley Eyo Andem, an 18-year-old male, who was found with multiple injuries inflicted by his abductors.

“His abduction was based on allegations of dating the girlfriend of the gang’s leader.
“The command has intensified efforts to apprehend the gang members and ensure they face justice in accordance with the extant laws of the land.”
