A Kano State High Court sitting on Miller Road has ordered the remand of a man, Idris Kurma, in a correctional facility over allegations that he killed his wife for refusing to prepare peanut cake (kuli-kuli).
The case, presided over by Justice Musa Dahiru, involves accusations that Kurma fatally attacked his wife, Aisha Idris, after she refused to prepare the snack.
The defendant was arraigned on a charge of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code, according to the prosecution counsel, Barrister Lamido Abba Soron Dinki.
Kurma, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

During the proceedings, the prosecution requested time to present its witnesses, while the defence counsel, Barrister Ibrahim Adakawa, asked for full disclosure of the case details.
Justice Dahiru granted both requests and adjourned the hearing to December 12, 2025, for continuation.
The incident occurred in Goda community, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, where the suspect allegedly strangled his wife during a domestic quarrel that escalated over her refusal to prepare the snack.
