Man accused of stealing from impounded vehicle at police station

One Ahmed Olaadu (25) has appeared before a Mapo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over alleged theft of iron rods at the Sanyo Police Station in Ibadan.

When the charge was read to him, Olaadua pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The prosecutor, Insp Oluseye Akinola, told the court the defendant allegedly committed the offence on July 21 at the Sanyo Police Station, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Akinola further stated that Olaadua was arrested after entering the police station premises to scavenge for iron rods from an impounded vehicle.

He said that the three rods allegedly stolen were valued at N250,000.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. ii Law of Oyo State 2000.

Consequently, the Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Latunji admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until Aug. 26 for hearing. (NAN)
