The police in Ekiti State have arraigned one Chukwuebuka Umenweke (38) at the Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti over the alleged possession of stolen iron rods.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant and others still at large were found in possession of pieces of 32mm, 25mm, 12mm, and 10mm iron rods on August 14 at about 4pm in Ado-Ekiti.
The rods were reasonably suspected to have been stolen, he said,
Inspector Oriyomi said the offence is punishable under Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Counsel for the defendant, Barrister Sunday J. Ochayi, urged the court to grant bail to his client, the request
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned to September 11, for hearing.
