Man allegedly rapes 2-year-old child in Ekiti

A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of one Mustapha Amodu (19) at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Custody over the alleged rape of a two-year-old child.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that there is probable cause to order the remand of the defendant, who is reasonably suspected to have raped a two-year-old victim.

Inspector Oriyomi said the offence is punishable under Section 31 of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor requested the remand of the defendant for 30 days pending the issuance of legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Barrister Adeyinka Okpaleke represented the defendant, but his plea was not taken.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, ordered the remand of the defendant until November 22 for mention.
