A 42-year -old man, Salisu Kabiru, has been arrested by the vigilantes for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s nine years old daughter at Unguwar Azara at Kasuwan Dare in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A resident of Kasuwan Dare, Usman Danjuma, said the incident happened on Monday around 11:23 am when the man lured the girl, who was sent to deliver Sallah food for him, into an uncompleted building and allegedly had carnal knowledge of her.
He said the mother of the victim gave Sallah food for her to deliver to the man, who happens to be a neighbor and the man lured the victim with N200 of new N50 notes.
He said the mother waited for the girl to return without seeing her for nearly 20 minutes and she went searching for her.
According to him, the mother was not comfortable with the way the girl was seen walking back home and became suspicious.
He said after enquiry; the girl informed her mother that their neighbour had carnal knowledge of her.
He said “The girl’s mother immediately raised an alarm and some neighbours, upon hearing about the incident, quickly rushed and apprehended the man.”
He said the man, who tried to deny having carnal knowledge of the victim, was mobbed by some people before some vigilantes prevailed and whisked him away.
A member of the vigilante, Ibrahim Yahaya, confirmed the arrest of the man, who allegedly defiled his neighbour’s daughter, saying the suspect had been handed over to security personnel in the area.
The police in the area referred our reporter to the FCT police command for details of the incident but the spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment as at the time of filing the report.
