Man allegedly shoots friend over business in Lagos

Homicide detectives from the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) have taken into custody one Faruq Adeaga for allegedly opening fire at his friend over a failed business deal in the Yaba area of Lagos.

The suspect, who is being investigated for attempted murder, allegedly fired one Solomon on his buttocks with a locally made gun.

Though details of the business that went bad were not made known at the time of filing this report, a police source at the State Criminal Investigation Department, said the suspect had made a useful statement as to why he fired at his friend.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, saying that the victim was later rushed to the 68 Military Reference Hospital, Yaba.

Hundeyin stated that on March 23, 2025 a complainant reported the shooting incident.

He said the complainant alleged that the suspect, Faruq Adeaga, allegedly fired one Solomon on his buttocks and right leg during an altercation.

“The victim became unconscious as a result of the bullet wounds sustained. He was rescued and rushed to 68 Military Reference Hospital, Yaba, where he is currently responding to treatment.

“Based on the report, operatives of the command swiftly mobilized to the scene and arrested the suspect.

“A locally made pistol and an unexpended cartridge were recovered. Investigation is going after which the suspect will be charged to court,” he said.
