A man identified as ‘Doctor’ has allegedly stabbed his female friend, identified as ‘Ima’, to death in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, over an allegation of cheating on him.
The incident which occurred on Sunday evening at Okereke Street, Mile 2 Diobu axis of Port Harcourt, caused panic in the neighbourhood.
Residents told Daily Trust that the man had accused his female lover of cheating on him, which led to an altercation between both of them and in the process, he allegedly used a knife to stab her to death.
They said the caretaker of the compound, on noticing the incident, quickly rushed to the Azikiwe Police Division, Mile 2 Diobu, to make a formal complaint on the incident, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

Daily Trust also gathered that the police have already deposited the corpse of the deceased at an undisclosed mortuary in Port Harcourt.
Reacting to the incident, the National Coordinator of the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability campaign, Prince Wiro, said, “We are calling on the police to ensure a thorough and unbiased investigation with a view to serving justice on the matter.
“I want to use this opportunity to advise young people that a toxic relationship should not be endured. People should walk away from a toxic relationship,” Mr Wiro said.
The Police spokesperson in Rivers State, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, could not confirm the incident as she did not pick up her calls or respond to text messages sent to her.
