Man arraigned for allegedly stealing 7 phones in Delta

The police in Asaba, Delta State on Thursday arraigned a 25-year-old man, Abubakar Sani, before an Asaba Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing seven phones and a power bank.

Sani is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Priscilla Nnadi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 22 at Abraka Market, Asaba.

She alleged that the defendant stole seven phones of different brands, valued at ₦645,000, and a power bank worth ₦38,000 from Abba Jibri’s charging centre — properties that had been entrusted to Mr. Abba Jibri for charging.

According to her, the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap C21, Laws of Delta, 2026.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Edith Anumodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦600,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until November 24, for hearing.
