A middle-aged resident of Na’ibawa quarters in Tarauni Local government area of Kano state, Rabiu Kabiru is standing trial before a Gyadi-Gyadi Magistrate court for alleged breach of trust and cheating.
According to the charge sheet, Kabiru was reported to the police by one Hamza Umar that sometime in 2011 he bought a 40 by 40 plot of land from the accused person at the sum N310, 000.00.
However, the complainant told police that about three weeks ago, when he visited the said plot located in Wailari quarters Kumbotso local government area, with intention to develop it, he discovered that the accused person had sold the plot to one Jamilu Haruna of Na’ibawa quarters.
The Prosecuting Officer, Sergeant Saleh Nakura told the court that in the course of investigation, the sum of N180, 000, 00 was found on the accused, he therefore asked the court to compel him to pay the balance of N130, 000, 00 to the complainant.
When asked if the information contained in the charge sheet was true, the accused person pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of breach of trust and cheating which contradict section 312 and 322 of Penal Code Law.
The Presiding Judge, Senior Magistrate Binta Ibrahim Galadanchi granted the accused bail and adjourned the case till March 7, 2017 for further hearing.
