A 41-year-old man, Adeniyi Friday, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over the alleged theft of school property valued at N1.34 million.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence in January 2026 at Iyana-Emirin area of Odo Ado-Ekiti.

According to the prosecutor, the stolen items, belonging to Theresa Secondary School, Iyana-Emirin, included a solar power pack, 15 laboratory retorts, two tripod stands, a bundle of long-span roofing sheets, two CPUs, five keyboards, four computer monitors, two standing fans, a plasma television set, a generator, a public address system, a wireless microphone, 49 plastic chairs and two iron windows.

Inspector Apata said the offence contravenes Section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms, assuring that he would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Mrs Ajibade P.T., granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The court also directed that one of the sureties must present either a three-year tax clearance certificate or an international passport.

The case was adjourned until June 10, 2026, for further hearing.
