Man arraigned over N10m theft

The Lagos police command yesterday arraigned a 37-year-old man, Nicholas Osifo, before an Ikeja magistrate’s court for allegedly stealing the sum of N10 million, property of one Raphael Ekeanyanwu.
Osifo was arraigned before Magistrate Y.O. Aje- Afunwa on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and theft.
The police prosecutor, Inspector N. Peter, told the court that the accused stole 1,050 cartons of Seagram whisky worth N10m loaded in a truck registration number FGG 750A, which was meant for onward delivery to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
According to Peter, the accused committed the offence on January 17, 2017 at about 11am at Ido, Ebute-Meta, Lagos.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two- count charge instituted against him.
Magistrate Aje-Afunwa granted him bail in the sum of N1m, on condition of true verification of his address and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till February 14,2018 for mention.
