The Lagos State police command yesterday arraigned three men – Ololo John, 34; Augustine Emmanuel, 21; and Thankgod Okorie, 23, before an Ikeja magistrate’s court for allegedly being in unlawful possession of firearms.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Peter Nwagwu, told the court that John and his accomplices were caught on April 29, 2018 on Admiralty Road, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
Nwagwu said the suspects were found with two locally made pistols and two iron rods cut to size, which he said they couldn’t satisfactorily account for.
“They kept these items under the passenger seat of the Toyota Corolla saloon car, AKD 258 AP, in which they were caught by the police who had stopped and searched them,” he said.
The defendants all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Chief Magistrate Y. O. Aje-Afunwa granted each of them bail of N250,000, with one surety.
She adjourned the case till July 16, 2018.
