The Edo State Security Corps has arrested a man identified as Bello Bawa in connection with the alleged killing of Ayoade Ohiremen following a disagreement over a motorcycle.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Ahor community on the Oluku bypass in Benin City, Edo State.

The deceased, a commercial motorcyclist operating around the Ahor-Uzala axis of the Oluku-Benin-Auchi bypass, had reportedly joined other motorcyclists to apply for a new motorcycle under a “balance and carry” (hire-purchase) scheme.

It was gathered that when the deceased arrived at the venue, other motorcyclists accused him of foul play, claiming he was not among the designated beneficiaries.

Sources say an argument ensued, which escalated into violence. In the process, the deceased was allegedly beaten to death by the other riders.

A witness stated that after the killing, the assailants dragged the body into nearby farmland, where it was abandoned before they fled.

However, one of the suspects, Bello Bawa, was later apprehended by the Edo State Security Corps.

The Deputy Corps Commander, Richard Balogun, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
