The police in Niger State have arrested a man, Adamu Danga Rijau (62), of Bosso Low Cost area of Minna for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in a graveyard.

Parading the suspect, the state command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect was arrested while carrying out the act in the Numui Cemetery.

Abiodun said the suspect attempted to run without his trousers but was pursued and apprehended by a mob and handed over to the police, and that during interrogation he confessed to have lured his victim to the cemetery while she was sent on an errand by her mother. 

He added that the suspect further confessed that he committed the offence under the influence of palm wine which he claimed to have bought on his way home from his farm.
