The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested Hussaini Abubakar, a 30-year-old man, for allegedly killing his 75-year-old mother, DaharaMu’azu, in Gumel Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Jigawa State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Lawan Shi’isu Adam, the incident occurred on June 29, 2025, at about 8pm.
He said the suspect reportedly attacked his mother with mud blocks, causing severe head injuries.
The PPRO stated that the victim was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead the following day.
He explained that the police swiftly responded to the incident and arrested the suspect, adding that the suspect is currently in police custody, cooperating with investigators.
He said the Deputy Commissioner of Police, CID, has been directed to take over the case.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, has condemned the act, describing it as inhuman, barbaric and utterly reprehensible,” the PPRO said.
