Vigilantes have arrested a 28- year- old man, Bashir Ibrahim, for allegedly stealing a ram bought by his neighbour for Eid-el-Kabir in Baki village in Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
One of the vigilantes, Samson Ayuba, said the incident happened on Tuesday, around 11:13 am.
He said the suspect allegedly went to his neighbour’s house, one Babe Abdul Karim, and untied his ram at the backyard.
He said the owner of the ram, who had gone to the farm with his children, returned around 5:23 pm and discovered that his ram was missing.

He said the man immediately alerted some neighbours but none of them could find the animal or the person that stole it.
He said, “After an unsuccessful search, the man rushed to report to the vigilantes in the community. The vigilantes immediately alerted their members at Kwali market.”
According to him, the suspect was arrested with the ram at the cattle market in Kwali by the vigilantes while attempting to sell it to another resident.
“The vigilantes alerted the owner of the ram after the man was tracked down. The owner came and identified his ram, while the suspect was handed over to security personnel in the area,” he said.
He said some people who identified the suspect to be a notorious thief, attempted to assault him at the cattle market but for the interventions of the vigilantes on ground.
Ayuba said that the owner of the ram bought it last week at Gwagwalada cattle market at the cost of N275,000 for sacrifice for the Eid -el-Kabir.
When contacted, spokeswoman for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, simply asked if the suspect was handed over to the police in the area.
