Man arrested for allegedly vandalising Edo Line vehicles

A middle-aged man, identified only as Adamu, has been arrested by the Edo State Security Network for allegedly vandalizing abandoned vehicles belonging to the state transport company, Edo Line, in Benin City.

The suspect was reportedly arrested at the scene of the crime at the former Edo Line office on James Watt Road.

He was allegedly in the process of removing vehicle parts when the security team apprehended him.

Adamu is believed to be part of a gang that specializes in vandalizing unserviceable vehicles for sale.

According to sources, the suspect and his accomplices, who are now at large, entered the premises and had already stolen engines and other vehicle parts from several vehicles before the security team arrived.

Acting on a tip, the Edo State Security Network stormed the area, arresting Adamu while his accomplices escaped by climbing over a fence.

The spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, CSP Moses Yamu, said he would provide an official statement to the reporter after he had more information.
