The Edo State Taskforce for Private Property Protection has arrested and handed over one Osarobo Idahosa to security agents for violating the law prohibiting forceful entry and illegal occupation of landed property in the state.

The taskforce’s vice chairman, Chief Osaro Idah, who disclosed this yesterday while briefing journalists in Benin on the activities of the panel of enquiry over land grabbing in the state, said Idahosa’s arrest followed investigation into the disputed parcel of land between Christopher Akeh and Idahosa.

He said Idahosa failed to provide the necessary documents to back his claim of ownership of the land during the investigation.

He added that Idahosa also inflicted physical injuries on Akeh, who was discovered to have acquired the land legally from the state government. 

He said Idahosa was arrested for contravening the property law and has been handed over to security agents for prosecution to serve as deterrent to others.
