Man arrested for setting wife ablaze in Ogun
A 46-year-old man, Hassan Azeez, has been arrested by the police in Ogun State for pouring petrol on his wife and setting her on fire in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Ogun police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, tweeted that the victim’s father reported the matter on October 22, 2022, that his daughter, Olayinka Hassan, mother of one, was set ablaze by her husband over a minor disagreement.
He further said that on interrogation the suspect who claimed to have run to Benin Republic confessed to the crime and blamed it on the devil.
He explained that the suspect told the police that he asked his wife to cook food for him, but that instead of cooking she went washing her clothes which got him annoyed because he was hungry, hence doing what he did.
