Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have arrested a suspected vandal, identified as Victor Okereke, who allegedly specialises in stealing from construction sites.
The suspect was apprehended in the Oluku area, near Benin City, shortly after allegedly stealing aluminum doors and windows from a local construction site.
Investigations revealed that Okereke’s typical modus operandi involved sneaking into active building sites under the cover of night to remove expensive aluminum fixtures.
His luck eventually ran out after he dismantled doors and windows from a site and transported them to a meeting point along the Benin-Auchi road.
He was intercepted by security operatives at the Aduwawa bypass while waiting for a prospective buyer to arrive and collect the stolen goods.
The Deputy Commander of the Corps, Richard Balogun, confirmed the arrest.
